Shanghai is the vibrant and commercial Centre of China. This morning you will walk along the famous Bund, a mile-long stretch along the Huangpu River. Lined by the colonial architectures of European design, this area is the best place to capture the Western influences of the old days. This afternoon we will visit Shanghai Museum and the City God Temple area, surrounded by a network of local snack vendors and souvenir shops that make for a colorful walk. Enjoy some free time here. At night, you may enjoy the “Huangpu River Night Cruise” and get a glimpse of the dazzling and charming night view of Shanghai (US$50/person).

After breakfast, we will visit Zhujiajiao Ancient Water Town, which has almost 1,700 years of history. Walking on the zigzag stone pathway, you would feel like walking in an elegant and fresh painting. Small rivers shaded by willow trees, bridges over the river, houses dated back to the Ming and Qing Dynasties, lovely local people, all of these are the charm of the small water town. Then travel by coach to Suzhou. Suzhou is also known as the “Garden City” due to its classical gardens. Upon arrival, visit the Lingering Garden, one of the finest gardens in China. As a large area of the city is covered by water, including a vast number of ponds and streams, Suzhou is known as the “Venice of the East”. You may take an optional cruise along the Grand Canal to view life along China’s golden waterway in its heyday (US$50/person).

This morning, travel by coach to Hangzhou. Described by Marco Polo as “the most beautiful and magnificent city in the world”. Upon arrival, visit the serene West Lake, the most renowned feature of Hangzhou, noted for its scenic beauty which blends with many famous historical and cultural sites. This evening, you can enjoy an optional performance, “Enduring Memories of Hangzhou”, a masterpiece created by Zhang Yimou, the director of the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games Opening Ceremony (US$90/person).

After breakfast, experience an oriental tea-tasting at the Dragon Well Tea Plantation. Then travel by coach to Shanghai, and fly to Yichang, the starting point of your Yangtze River Cruise.After arriving in Yichang, board the luxury cruise and learn about cruise events and onboard activities.

Your highly anticipated grand Yangtze River adventure begins this morning. The cruise ship’s first stop is Taipingxi (or Sandouping). Disembark to visit the massive Three Gorges Dam Project, the world’s largest dam, measuring 606 feet high and 6,500 feet long. In 1997, the cofferdam was completed and the main structure began. Re-embark the cruise ship and sail through Xiling Gorge, the longest one of the Three Gorges with 41 miles long and highest (4,000 feet).

Disembark at Wushan, where you’ll board small riverboats for a leisurely ride through Shennong Stream’s picturesque rock formations, and even see the playful monkeys and goats along the river banks. Re-embark the cruise as it sails through sails through Wu Gorge, which is famous for its tranquility, and the Qutang Gorge, the shortest and most dramatic part of the Three Gorges.

Today’s shore excursion will occur at Shibaozhai. The Shibaozhai Pagoda is a 12-storey, 18th-century temple built in Zhongxian County on the northern bank of the Yangtze River. It represents one of the gems of Chinese Architecture.

Disembark from the cruise at the port of Chongqing this morning. Then travel to the Panda House to see the adorable giant pandas. Spend time observing these cuddly creatures as they munch on bamboo and play in their habitats. Then make your way to Ci Qi Kou, and wander through its narrow lanes lined with traditional architecture and shops selling pottery and handicrafts. This historic town offers a glimpse into Chongqing's past. Tonight, you may join the optional Chongqing Night Cruise (US$45/ person), As the cruise sets sail, get ready to be mesmerized by the glittering city lights reflecting on the waters of the Yangtze River. Chongqing's skyline comes alive after dark, and you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the city's modern architecture and iconic landmarks illuminated in various colors.

Today we will take the flight or bullet train to Xi'an. Xi’an was the first Chinese city to open its doors to the world during the Tang Dynasty. Over a period of more than 2000 years, Xi’an was the capital of eleven dynasties. 

After arrival, transfer to hotel. This evening, you may join the optional visit to the Grand Tang Everbright City (US$69/person). It is a 2,100-meter-long pedestrian mall in Xi'an. The design theme is inspired by Tang Dynasty (618-907), You may try on a Tang Dynasty costume, the traditional attire of the Chinese people, and have a great photo opportunity along the artificial ancient street at night, to immerse yourself in the vibrant nightlife in the Tang Dynasty.

After breakfast, you will visit the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses Museum and see the attached life-sized defending army for the first emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang. This site is regarded as “the eighth wonder of the world” and is among the top archaeological excavations of the 20th century. Visit an Art Ceramics Factory before visiting Ancient City Wall. It is not only the most complete city wall that has survived in China, but also one of the largest and most complete ancient military defense systems in the world. This evening, enjoy the “special local Imperial Dumpling Banquet Dinner and the traditional Tang Dynasty Singing and Dancing Show” (US$68/person).

This morning, fly to Beijing. Beijing has served as the capital of five dynasties over a period of 800 years. Today, visit the exquisite Summer Palace, the largest preserved ancient imperial garden in China, and a former summer resort for Emperors. Before head back to hotel,  drive pass by modern exteriors of the Bird’s Nest and Water Cube that were  built for the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. Both buildings have become symbols of modern China and are significant landmarks that showcase the country's architectural prowess.

Today’s highlight is an excursion to the majestic Great Wall, the most famous image of China, and you can get a chance to climb a portion of this 3,700-mile marvel. Visit one of the largest Jade Exhibitions in Asia en-route before the Great Wall. onight, you can choose to attend an optional large scale dramatic musical, “The Golden Mask Dynasty” (US$65/person).

Today, visit Tiananmen Square, the second largest public square in the world, and the Forbidden City, it is a historic and magnificent imperial palace complex and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. It served as the imperial palace for the Chinese emperors during the Ming and Qing dynasties, spanning nearly five centuries from 1420 to 1912. It is located at the heart of Beijing and covers an area of about 180 acres. It is enclosed by a massive defensive wall and a deep moat, making it one of the largest and best-preserved ancient palace complexes in the world. Your banquet includes the local delicacy, Peking Roast Duck. After lunch, visit Traditional Chinese Medicine Consultation. Learn about traditional Chinese medicine, which has existed for thousands of years. 

This afternoon, you may join the optional Temple of Heaven & Hutong Life tour with meal (US$89/person). Temple of Heaven, inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was visited by the Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties for annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for good harvest. Then take a famous rickshaw Hutong Tour & Local Family Visit, this package also includes a traditional Zhajiangmian - a popular Chinese noodle dish that originated in Beijing. It consists of hand-pulled wheat noodles topped with a savory sauce made from stir-fried ground meat. Hutongs are traditional alleyways that made up Beijing’s old city layout, take a special rickshaw ride for an immersive tour to get a wonderful glimpse into yesterday’s world, the old way of life, and traditional Beijing culture, and see the dramatic changes the city has undergone, continue to visit a local family.
